Sit stand options

The U of MN DEHS Ergonomics staff has been getting many requests for Sit Stand workstation solutions both for accommodations and to improve overall fitness.

These are some options below.  The best fit depends on a number of factors including workflow and the use of paper documents.

The Ergotron with a dual monitor or single monitor clamps on to an existing desk.

The WOW table is a free standing table on wheels that adjusts from sitting to standing.

You could also combine adjustable arm monitors with a extended range keyboard tray.

Sitting workstation - wireless mouse and keyboard
Alternatively, the workstation could be set up to have a laptop at seated height and another section with monitor, a wireless keyboard and mouse at standing height.

The problem can also be solved with electric sit stand units which are much more expensive.

This is a comparison between and electric sit stand unit and an Ergotron unit.

Innovations in Laboratory Ergonomics

MinnWest - Wilmar, MN
I have attached photos from the U of Minnesota's MinnWest laboratory in Willmar Minnesota.  The labs feature movable cabinets, adjustable height surfaces and quick connect gas connections.  This allows the space to be rapidly reconfigured depending on changes in research needs.
